Purpose

The purpose of this workshop is to introduce you to a treatment model that we’ve developed that combines the best of both Schema Therapy and EMDR. We have been fortunate enough to have been trained in EMDR and Schema Therapy, two of the most powerful therapies developed in the past 30 years. We have found each model to be tremendously helpful in our clinical work with a wide spectrum of clients.

Over the years, however, we have realized that while each model has tremendous strengths, each has significant weaknesses. While Schema Therapy is extremely strong conceptually, we have found its change techniques to be cumbersome at times and/or less effective than those used in EMDR. And EMDR, while often producing strong, rapid change, is weak conceptually, providing little if any guidance in both understanding clients and how to most effectively implement treatment.
